The Best Way to Increase Your Energy

I went to the health food store the other day feeling excited about adding some new foods to my diet. As I walked down the aisles, I noticed another woman who seemed a little agitated about not being able to find what she wanted. She was very thin, had a hacking cough and was looking rather sickly. Her hands held several different kinds of supplements. 
I didn’t think much about it until we got to the counter. She struck up a conversation with the cashier, and since I was behind her, she turned toward me. She hoped to find a miracle. However, whenever a suggestion was recommended by the cashier, she responded by saying that she had already tried it. I felt sad for her because you could tell that she had spent her life not taking care of her body, and now she was feeling the effects. 
There are many experts who have all sorts of opinions and suggestions on what is healthy and what is not good for our body over. The easiest choice may not always be the best choice. It's hard to change old habits — until it’s too late. You'll change when the motivation to survive is strong enough. When you make a choice, there is no stopping the consequences of your choice. In other words, if you decide to jump off a cliff, you can pretty much predict the outcome.
When the consequences of years of poor habits catch up with you, it’s normal to want an instant cure. Even so, like in the case of this woman, years of ignoring the root of the problem will not be fixed with a few supplements. 
We all have adjustments to make in our life. You know what they are. Do yourself a favor and take care of those adjustments right away. If you need to cut down on your sugar intake, do it. If you need to exercise more, start by doing 20 squats a day or taking the dog out for a walk. If you need to change your diet by adding more leafy greens, stop by the store and pick up a bag of your favorite salad mix.
I’m grateful for that woman because she reminds me why I am in the health-food store in the first place. I may not feel the effects of a healthier lifestyle right away, but I enjoy the positive feeling I get when I do something good for me. My hope is to avoid some unwanted consequences in the future.
Your body is precious, so give it the TLC (tender loving care) you need to be healthy and strong. It makes for a really energizing day.
